Opulence. Grandeur. Idiosyncrasies. Extravagance marks the archeological splendor of Taj Mahal. An innocuous gate marks the entry into the complex. Before one reaches this gate, two octagonal buildings greet the eye. Within the gateway is an arterial corridor that threads into different rooms. A lovely arch spreads out to form double-storey wings. The eleven chhatri`s (umbrellas) with marble cupolas on the north and south sides appear to be singing out a warm greeting " Come to the land of love and dream" ... The archeological splendor of Taj Mahal brings back the memories of past, Love carved in stone- very well said indeed.

Taj Mahal has always been termed as a dream carved on marble, with virtually no architecture till date trying to contend with its own structural marble content. Indeed, the amount of effort that was put in by all the legendary 20, 000 workers employed by Emperor Shah Jahan still speaks in itself. No one can speak anything against the Taj s splendour. Each and every painstaking portion of the architecture is an archaeological masterpiece. It is also alleged that Shah Jahan himself used to sit by the roof of the Agra Fort Red Fort of Agra only to watch his dream grow up. The four minarets, the sky-kissing arches, the garden, the principal tomb itself exuded a charm of romance, serenity, respect, grandiloquence and mourning. As such, archaeology from all around the world can never ignore Taj Mahal s bounteous beauty in ages to come.
