Many types of skateboard have been used so far in the history of skate boarding. The skateboards are lengthwise divided into two categories like long and short and they can be classified according to the materials used for making skateboards. In the ancient period, the players used only the wooden skateboards. The first Skate Board that came to the market for sale was the Roller Derby , in 1959. After this, the other companies introduced plastic skateboards that were stronger than the wooden ones and had less possibility to break. During the early 1970s, Frank Nasworthy discovered a new material named Urethane and started making Skate Board wheels with this material. These new wheels helped the players increase their speed to a great extent. In modern times, the skateboards are also being made using strong but light fibers for further increasing the speed of the players.
