Rabindranath Tagore s each genre of writing is very much contemporary and links itself with the present day society. In fact, if looked into further deeply, the novels, the short stories, the verses or the essays, still bear a fresh essence of present Indian scenario, quintessential of today s youth. The basic realm of relationship comes up time and again in each of Tagore s pieces, with the layers and further sub-layers being distinctly analysed and severalised from each angle. Unconventionality, sensuality, eroticism, the sub-conscious, a man/woman in the phase of trial and error and of course their exquisite treatment in Rabindranath Tagore s language, makes them readable time and again in the coming centuries, very very contemporary indeed.
