The Indian football team is playing quite well in the ongoing SAAF Championships in Maldives, with the not that much strong sides like Nepal, Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh etc. at the moment. Do you think that the once strong Indian team is restrained to this type of regional competitions only?

Cash incentives poured in for the India football team after they won the AFC Challenge Cup as All India Football Federation (AIFF) and sports broadcaster ESPN rewarded the winners with Rs 15 lakh each. The cash award was shared by 23 players, head coach and six support staff. Sports Ministry is also expected to announce incentives for the players and the support staff when minister M.S. Gill meets captain Baichung Bhutia and Wednesday’s hat-trick man Sunil Chhetri.

I feel that there is a lot of potential in the Indian Football team and the Problem that the team is facing is lack of funds, and there is a lot of difference in making announcements and bringing them in action. There Should be less of promising and words but more of action. One more thing is that we give great focus on the victory against competitors like Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh. India ranks 138 as per the ranking by FIFA Sept. 2009 and Pakistan, Maldives, Bangladesh rank 168,148,165 respectively. We should rather keep a vision that is beyond these weak teams. The team must be given more of foreign Exposure so that there is learning and the Game Requires a lot of Advertising so that it Gains popularity so that we get more talent for the game. Hope you all Agree with my Point of view.
