Velvet is lustrous and soft fabric, with a very smooth and plain underside. In velvet painting which is a popular genre of painting this Velvet is used for its typicaly silky and soft-to-touch look and ideally employed as the base for unique and decorative paintings. Painted wholly by hand velvet painting is an example of the ascetic grandeur of Indian art. Bold, bright and vivid colors are used to add to the richness of the velvet paintings.
