Color, vibrancy and effervescence mark the costume of Rajasthan whilst making it the true representation of the state itself

In Rajasthan, the dresses of the males and the females are well defined and are made to go with the climate and conditions in which they live. While pagari turban , angarakha, dhotis or pyjamas, kamarband or patka waistband form integral part of a male s attire, the female s attire includes Ghaghara long skirt , kurti or choli tops and blouses respectively and odhani.

To add a dash of colour and life to the barren, apparently colourless landscape and the monotonous, cloudless sky, the people of Rajasthan show a distinct preference for bright costumes. Colours like bright red, dazzling yellow, lively green or brilliant orange, highlighted by a lavish use of sparkling gold and silver zari or gota marks the Rajasthani costumes. Both males and females dress in the customary dresses fully influenced by climate, economy, status and the profession. The traditional dresses being potia , dhoti , banda , angrakha , bugatari , pachewara , khol , dhabla , amongst Hindus and tilak , burga , achkan amongst Muslims, which are fast changing now with bushirt , salwar and skirts , saris and pants accordingly.

Men usually wears Dhotis and Kurta or achkan , and saafa turban on the head, women use to wear kanchli blouse of Rajasthani Style , ghaghara and odhna or odhni . Both men and women use Mojari or pagarki known as jooti in hindi as footwear. Vibrant color is the striking feature in the costumes of Rajasthan
