Inculcating the habit of reading among both the children and adults is very important. Apart from providing knowledge, it enhances one`s memory, reduces stress and improves one`s analytical thinking skill.

I totally agree with you. But could you please tell me how to inspire a reluctant reader to pick this habit?

Well Vicky I feel it is not an easy task, you will require patience. If it`s a child, it`s easy. Simply read aloud to them. The earlier you start, the better it is. But inspiring an adult to pick up the habit of reading is no mean task. An easier way is to narrate an extremely interesting story to the concerned person. If he/she seems interested, narrate another. Make him/her addicted. Automatically that person will look for more intriguing story. Then one fine day gift that person a book of his/her interest.

It is said that reading is to mind what exercise is to body.

Reading habit reduces stress. If you are a voracious novel reader then you will understand this. You will notice that whenever you immerse yourself in a highly stimulating story you forget everything even your stress, tension and worries.

Reading habit encourages positive thinking. For example, we often get motivated by characters who overcame various obstacles before becoming successful. Their journey inspires us to reach our own goals. Books are mental booster.
