Wheat is one of the main crops in Punjab. It is sown in the month of October and harvested in March or April. The people of Punjab have the belief and faith that the fields would come up with the promise of a fair harvest in the month of January. Thus to mark this, they celebrate the festival of Lohri right before the cutting and gathering of crops.

Hey guys, do you know that an interesting fact is associated with bonfire? It is believed that bonfires were originally fires in which bones were burned. Thus the term `bonfire` is derived from this fact.
