Yes it is, especially in rural areas. People in villages are still very repulsive about girl`s education which they consider as a waste of time and money.

Looking at the statistics there is a huge difference in the number of girls completing primary and secondary education. Still in India girls are married off at an early age without giving them the scope to complete education. If equal opportunities and encouragement are provided to the girls the economic growth of India will increase manifold.

Several initiatives have been taken in this regard and the scenario has improved a lot over recent years. India will soon achieve success in this aspect too.

Widespread campaigns are required for creating awareness regarding girls education in India. Families in rural areas need a great deal of persuasion for this so that they willingly allow their girls to go to schools and colleges.

These days government has launched a number of programs for encouraging girl`s education in India. Hope it will make a difference in some years down the line.

Some of the areas in India still consider that there is no need for girls education. They only allow the basic education to girls. They even think that why girls are getting education? What will they do after getting education in higher level?

Girls` education no doubt still is a challenge but the good point is that there are many villages where parents now understand the value of education and thus are supporting their daughters to study. The only disappointing part here is that they are not economically sound. Hence this factor is stopping them from dreaming big.

I agree with Aakash`s point. Most of the villagers wonder what the girls would do by acquiring degrees when end of the day their job is to cook for the family!

To encourage girl`s education, firstly, all the mothers of India need to be educated. It is easy for an educated mother to realize the value of education. A father`s encouragement is equally important.

Yes, girls education is still a challenge in rural areas of the country. A lot of NGOs are working towards women empowerment and educating women and providing them with vocational training, so that they can earn their own livelihood. The situation needs to be improved a lot in many rural areas.

There was a time when people thought that it was not necessary to educate girls. They say that the proper sphere of girls is the home. So they argue that the money spent on girl?s education is wasted. What a disgusting thought!!
