A tip for those who are just stepping into the world of meditation. Instead of trying only the common postures find out the posture which is more suitable to you. You can try sitting, lying with eyes open or closed or any other posture in which you feel more focused.

Thanks for the information. Usually people try the usual seating posture for meditation. Its good to know that we can experiment on this too as per our convenience.

I have never heard about this posture of yoga. Does it really help? And how can one perform the art of meditation without closing eyes? I have heard that meditation is all about concentrating on your breathing. How can you do that with your eyes open? Please help.

Real basic tips for beginners to start with: 1) Choose A Convenient Time, 2) Choose A Quiet Place, 3) Sit In A Comfortable Posture, 4) Keep A Relatively Empty Stomach, 5) Start With A Few Warm-ups, 6) Take A Few Deep Breaths, 7) Open Your Eyes Slowly and Gently.

Yes Rahul it actually helps. Many a time beginners sleep off while meditating with closed eyes. So its better to keep your eyes open and focused on a particular object which consumes all the energy of the mind and helps to attain a new level of consciousness.

I agree with the point Anamika is trying to make as for the beginners it would take time to start with.
