I have come across about an event that takes place on the eve of Dashami. The Visarjan of Maa Durga is celebrated with great pomp in Kolkata. It is said that on the banks of Icchamati River we can have a glimpse of an undivided Bengal during this festival. Can anybody put some light on this event as I am planning to see the Visarjan Celebration of Bengal?

I visit Kolkata every year in Durga Puja and I have never come across this event. Can anybody give detailed information about this? Then I can also plan to go there and watch this event on the Dussehra.

I have visited the Icchamati River during the Durga visarjan. It is an exclusive event to watch where Durga idols are brought from both the Bengals on a boat and is immersed in the river water. Neel if you have visited this event then I request you to share your experience here.

Yes Anamika, you are absolutely right. This is a wonderful scene to watch where both the divided Bengal becomes ONE and celebrates the occasion of Devi visarjan at the Icchamati River. I missed this event this year as I was out of the state. Let`s wait for the next year.
