Well, here is a check list that can help you 1. Choose a theme that will not require heavy expenditure 2. Try to keep it simple without much Flamboyance 3. Documentaries require very less equipment like a DSLR cam, a microphone, 1 recorder, tripod mount etc. So you can manage these stuffs from your friends you can and this will save a lot of money. 4. Pick a location where you do not require any permission like a village, a forest, a railways station, a slum etc. Places like old age homes, schools and universities do require official consent.

Well nowadays the essential equipment which is required in shooting like the story, cameras, recorders, microphones, tripod, lights, you can go to a local youth media or film center, you can rent out equipment on the low-priced. Everything is cheaper as used. If you have friends who know how to use video cameras apply them. The more volunteers that you can use the more money you will save. Also you can categorize your documentary to the `Guerilla` section which is known for being rough. These films only focus on capturing the action.

Apparently Yes, but there are some other equipment which are very much necessary. You can shoot with a handy-cam but the voice capturing power will not be as good as with a sound recorder. The only option will be in this scenario is the Dubbing. After shooting, editing is very much necessary and for that you need some good editing software. But yes it can be possible to shoot with a handy-cam.

And about the quality of the video. Handy cam used to give the resolution which is back dated. So what is the solution?

Keep in mind that higher megapixel counts also produce larger files which in turn take more space on your camera`s memory card and computer`s hard drive. Many camera manufacturers offer camera and lenses that include image-stabilization technology which helps you if you end up with blurry photos. Make sure its viewfinder is bright so that you can see from edge to edge and that the focusing screen is clear. If a camera has a mount but no flash, check to see if an external flash is included as part of the kit or if you`ll need to buy it separately. If you think you will be changing lenses, often look for a DSLR with an internal sensor cleaner. This helps to keep your image sensor clean and dust free.
