The Jarawa are one of the four tribes in the Andaman Island. They are nomadic living in bands of 40-50 people. Their numbers are fast dwindling. An epidemic of measles in 1999 and 2006 wiped away about 10 percent of the Jarawa population. There are many facts about this Jarawa tribe which are still unknown to us.

Jarawas are one of the most ancient tribes in the world who are believed to be the direct descents of our ancestors and migrated from Africa. Presently, Jarawas are also under threat due to humiliation by the tourists in Andaman and Nicobar islands who treat them as objects of entertainment in exchange for food.
