Makar Sankranti is one of the highly auspicious days in a Hindu calendar and the day is dedicated to the worship of Lord Surya. Makar Sankranti is observed throughout India by all communities but with slight variations in the festivities. Guys can you name this festival in other regions?

I am a Bengali and for Bengalis `Makar Sankranti` is celebrated with homemade bengali sweets called `Pitha` which include patishapta, sar chakuli, gokul pitha, doodh puli etc. They are mouthwatering and the amazing thing is the main ingredient for these pithas are rice powder and milk. I just came across these articles here: www.indianetzone.com/17/patishapta.htm www.indianetzone.com/43/saru_chakuli.htm www.indianetzone.com/75/gokul_pitha.htm
