The interesting fact about mangoes is that it stands for love. According to Hindu mythology an evil sorceress had burnt the sun princess to ashes from which grew the mango tree. An emperor fell in love with the mango flower and fruit of that tree. So when the ripened mango fell to the ground it turned into a beautiful princess.

The Mango tree plays a sacred role in India it is a symbol of love and some believe that the Mango tree can grant wishes. In the Hindu culture, hanging fresh mango leaves outside the front door during Pongal and Deepavali is considered a blessing to the house. Mango leaves are used at weddings to ensure the couple bear plenty of children. Hindus may also brush their teeth with mango twigs on holy days.
