Monuments are one of the prime factors of tourist attractions in all the popular tourism and cultural places in the country. Which are such monuments in your opinion and how according to you are they and their heritage being preserved by the ASI and concerned authorities?

Monuments like Qutub Minar and Humayun`s Tomb are very well preserved and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. Recently I have visited these two places and I was very impressed by its maintenance.

After Lucknow India has another Imambara of the Nawabs located at the town of Hoogly in West Bengal. Not many are aware of it since it is in ruins and almost a neglected heritage of India. Though it is a historical attraction for the locals but its dilapidated condition has almost overshadowed it grandeur like the Quran engraved wall a British imported clock hanging lanterns etc.

Happy to know that Qutub Minar and Humayun s Tomb in Delhi have been well preserved. But one of the prime monumental creations of the Mughals the Red Fort in the national capital does not seem to have this reputation. People say that the monument has lost its former finesse and glory and the under maintenance of the structures inside only has led to it losing its appeal among the masses gradually. May anyone further enlighten me on this and is the ASI really working up to the mark to preserve such monuments of our country

Thanks iRahuLive, but since I haven`t visited the Red Fort I cannot say much about its condition. But according to you if it is not maintained by the ASI properly, then we should be concerned on this matter. It`s a serious issue that should be looked after by the Government immediately.

Monuments are the buildings or structures famous for their architectural and cultural heritage. They are durable and famous symbols of past. We get lot of historical and political information from monuments. Monuments remind us of our heritage. They are like a treasure for a nation and symbol of pride of their civilization. They help us to appreciate our past and the level of development knowledge and thoughts. In a way they provide life to our past. They serve as important sources or evidences of history and they enhance tourism.
