Below i am listing the gurus Earth Air Sky Water Fire Moon Sun Pigeon Python Ocean Moth Honey Bee Elephant Deer Fish The Prostitute Hawk The Child The Young girl The Arrow maker Serpent Spider Wasp
Hi ragamala, you have listed the 24 gurus correctly. However, i am listing here the rteasons also why these are considered as gurus. Dattreya has asked to learn from all. The mother earth: The earth bears the burden of crores of people on it s own self. Tolerates their works likes like digging of wells, ponds and construction of the houses and buildings. Bears the weight of mountains and the hills. But still earth forgives all. Therefore, Lord Dattatraya has taken the attribute of forgiveness from this earth. Water: The coolness is the nature of water. The cleanliness and sweetness are the parts of its nature. It quenches thirst and calms down the heat. It keeps everybody smooth. It sustains happiness, peace and vital air. in that similar way a meditator should speak sweet, and should live a sin free life. So water is also a guru Fire: The fire eats everything but fire is not cruel. It is full of brightness. it is sin free. It acts without any fault and makes others free from impurities. May be in timber or in a enlighten one should earn ultimate freedom by sacrificing everything and by getting free from the sins. Air: Air is like final destruction. It never bothers about what good or bad says the others. It is bond free. the meditator should always act without bothering for loss or gain and should always move freely and without any bondage. Space: Though the space is consisted of different objects, it remains as complete whole. It is unattached to everything. The meditator should hold his supreme God in his physical and subtle body. Should always stay bond free and unattached. Sun: The sun warms water and sucks it. Again in the season of rain, it gives again back to the earth. The enlighten one also, should impart knowledge to other deserving souls. As the reflection of sun in water creates an image of so many suns, but in reality it is only one. In similar way, the light of God is reflected in so many souls. In fact God is only one. Snake: It never builds a house or a hermitage for his residence. He moves about all alone. It moves in all the directions and in all the places. It never desires for his own happiness. In similar way, a meditator should live in solitude and should not accept help from any body. Moon: Brightness of moon increases in the first fortnight and decreases in second fortnight, but moon remains unchanged. In similar way, the body comes into existence and merges after some times but soul remains as it is. Stays unchanged unaffected. A meditator should develope an attitude of detachment since his birth till death. Python: The python is desire free. It is greed free. It never put sin strenuous efforts for his food. By the grace of God, what so ever it gets at ease, accepts it with satisfaction. In similar way, a meditator should not roam home to home for collecting food for eating. By the grace of God, what so ever comes to him, should be accepted by him and should satisfy his own self with such food. Ocean: The ocean never increases or decreases in size in the times of tide and abb. Some worships the ocean with sandal wood paste and some uses bad words for it, but it remains happy and satisfied. A meditator should adopt this attribute of oceans. Butterfly: Butterfly leaves his life by jumping in the flame of the of the lamp due to his love for light and lamp. In similar way, a meditator should stay unattached to mother, father, brother, son, wife and dear ones as a butterfly stays unattached and gives away it s body to the lamp. Dove: A dove couple was residing in a forest. They gave birth to young ones. They both were rejoicing the joyful plays of their young ones. They were very happy. But once a bird catcher came. He spread his net and trapped the young ones of dove couple. Dove couple came and saw the pitiable state of their young ones. They became very unhappy and sad. Looking at their own helplessness and the love for their young ones, they made up their mind to stay with young one s for the rest of the moments of their lives and jumped in the net. The bird catcher came thereafter, and took them with his net. A meditator should be come emotional like those doves. Fish: A fish invites own death due to temptation of the taste. Human being also consumer eatables and non-eatable foods just due to temptation for that taste. Just to satisfy own tongue and for pleasure for a while, he invites a lot of pains for his future and suffers through the pains and sorrows. Amongst all the sense organs, the tongue the sense of the taste-needs to be controlled at once. Honey-bee: Honey bee takes much pain and collects honey. But others are using that honey instead of these honeybees. The greedy people works hard in the fields and in other occupations. They cheat or harrace others and hoard the wealth. Such hoarded wealth either been stolen or been lost accidentally. But such people, can not spend money for their own self. Therefore, a meditator should not become greedy and miser. Deer: A deer becomes tempted to listening to sweet music or song and the hunter lures it by exploiting the weakness of this deer and kills it. Therefore, a meditator should not cultivate such weak nature like that of a deer. Elephant: In some forest at some place there was kept a picture of a female elephant. One elephant in the forest saw that picture of female elephant and fall in love for her. It stopped eating off and drinking water and set before that female elephant in the picture. It became mad in love for her and gave own life to get that imaginary partner of love life. A meditator, therefore, should learn out of this episode and should refrain from eight folded company of woman. Otherwise, he would wound up his own life like that of that elephant. Bumble-bee: A bumble - bee rejoices the fragrance of so many lotus flowers bloomed in the pond. IT enjoys the neater but gives no pain to that delicate flower. It does not tie it s self emotionally or physically with any such flower. In similar way, a meditator moves from place to place and absorbs good attributes from there and remains unattached to all such places. Prostitute Pingala: In a city named Videhnagar, there lived a prostitute, named Pingala. She was waiting at the threshold of her house for a rich visitor. She wished that some rich visitor would come at her place. She spent almost half of the night in such hopeful waiting, but nobody came to her place. She became un-happy and sad. In this state of sorrow and remorsefulness she thought over her own unwise act of leaving God and worshiping such unreliable and ordinary beings. She blamed her own thoughtlessness for such act of trading and giving pain to physical being. She made up her mind to worship God to dedicate everything to her personal God. She restored to her chamber and slept peacefully with such firm decision. Hoping for worldly objects always gives pains and restlessness. Firmness in the form of God always gives pleasure and peace. This is what one learns from this. Eagle: One eagle, holding a piece of meat between its beak fled away in the sky. But other eagles saw the meat and chased it. Greedy eagles attacked it to snatch away the grab. Injured by the wounds, that poor eagle ultimately dropped the meat and saved own self. A saint should not hoard anything. Child: A child is free from the effects of anger, greed and sensual desires. A child is free from the effects of loss and gains. The fire, gold, friend, enemy are all equal in the eyes and understanding of a child. In that sense, the child is unattached to worldliness, and is free from ego, temptations, desires etc. All are equal to the child. A meditator should act in the like manner and should maintain equality. Girl: A girl in the room, was thrashing rice. Some guests were at home. To keep this work secret. She was doing the job silently. But the bangles in her hands were making noise due to her movements. So to stop the noise, she removed bangle from one hand but still there was noise of bangles. Then she removed the bangle from the another hand and kept only one bangle in each of her hands. Now the noise was stopped. In the similar way, a meditator should stay alone. Loneliness generates attention and peace. Arrow-maker: One arrow maker was so attentive to his job of making arrows, that during the time of this job, entire army of the king came to that place and passed unnoticed to the arrow maker, in the front of his workshop. The attribute of total attention should be learnt from this. Spider: The spider spreads cobweb from its own mouth and plays in that web. At the end of such sport he again swallows back its own cobweb. God too, creates this world for sporting in this world and swallows it at the end of such sport. Therefore, a true meditator should not be trapped in these different species of the birth and death and should meditate constantly for emancipation of soul. Wasp: The wasp brings inset in its burrow. That insect changes into a yellow bee due to constant bites, sharp and staring look and uninterrupted memory of that wasp. The meditators too, should remember for ever the saintly words about God, constant memory of God, and full concentration in God.

Talking about Gurus, who accords the title like Satguru , Jagatguru , Swamiji etc. etc. on Hindu holy men. Is there any official government body or Holy peedams that confer these titles on them?
