The purely Indian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza has become the champion in the Australian Open, 2009. This was the 11th Grand Slam title for Mahesh and the first one for Sania. In the junior category, the Indian boy Yuki Bhambri has also become the champion. Do you think that their success will give a big push to the Indian Tennis? Will this encourage the Indian parents and youth to take Tennis as their career?

Definitely, this Indian pair of Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza has encouraged the budding tennis players. This is for the first time any Indian pair has earned this reputation for the country. This has also given boost to Indian tennis. Individually, Sania s ranking has also gone up after this win. So, altogether its a big gain for the country.

Yes, I think so. The win of Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza in the Australia Open is indeed a great booster for Indian Tennis. Yuki Bhambri s victory is just the icing on cake. I really think that the Indian youth will now take Tennis more seriously than before. The Indian parents will also be encouraged to send their children to the Tennis academies and make them another Paes, Bhupathi, or Mirza.
