1 Strip away the fibers and reserve them for inclusions in making paper. 2 You can cut the coconut shell in half and use the halves for a musical instrument attach straps for your fingers to the rounded top and bottom . 3 You can forgo cutting the shell in half, and instead carve patterns through the shell and extract the meat. You will be left with a fancy round ball with cut-out patterns. You can use this as a pomander for potpourri or just as a decorative object. Sand and varnish the outside if you wish. 4 Cut the coconut shell into three pieces a little on either side of the center, so you end up with the two ends and a ring from the center. Cut apart the two ends, drill holes in the ring, and make a windchime by stringing up the cut-up ends along the ring. 5 Cut the coconut shell in half, sand down the bottoms a bit, sand and varnish, and use as bowls. 6 Cut two fairly wide arced strips, join them together in a shape, and add a replaceable piece of unsized paper to use as a blotter.
