Spread in an area of 14 acres of land, the Kumarakom Bird Sancruary is located on the banks of the Vembanad Lake in the state of Kerala in south India. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, known for it varied avian population is an ornithologist s paradise. Kumarakom is easily accessible and you can easily wander around the park. But, you may face problems in communicating with the common people, as only the educated one are able to speak English here. Area : 101 acres. Travel Tips : Consult the Doctor before you leave for the trip. Get enough information about the place you are going to visit. Best Time to Visit : June and August. To watch Migratory birds, November to February is the best time. Nearest Town : Kottayam 12 km . You may Get There International Airport : At Chennai & Bangalore. Airport : At Kochi 76 km and Thiruvananthapuram 160 km . Railways : Kottayam is connected to major destinations in Kerala by rail. Road : Kottayam 12 km .
