Can anybody tell me the rules for Castling in Chess? I want to know when a player can opt for castling during a game of Chess? Is there any specific regulations or bindings for the player to follow, while opting for castling? What good can castling do for a player? I mean what are the advantages of opting for castling in Chess?
Castling is done to safe gaurd your knight from the attacks of opponent. It can be opted before the Check call given to you. After proper castling you can plan your strategy to capture the field and force the opponents knight to surrender.

First I want to inform you that Castling is only applicable in international Chess game not in Indian. Castling changes position of Rook and King but for using castling there should not be any chessmen or pieces between Rook and King and Check is not given to King as well as not to any chessmen between Rook and King. There are two types of castling, short castling and long castling.

Castling is applicable in EVERY KIND OF CHESS. There is no seperate chess like Indian or American. Rules: 1.No pieces in between rook in the side you want to castle and the king. 2.The rook and the king should never have been moved before. 3.The king should not be under check. 4.Any squares in between where the castling is taking place should not be under attack. 5.It can only be done once in one game. Advantages: 1.It makes your king safer and takes it to the side of the board. 2.It helps greatly in development by bringing out your rook. 3.It helps in connecting your rooks. 4.It can also be used to bring rooks into the center of the board specially in queen side castle Usually , it is best to castle as soon as possible, after developing the pieces in between the king and your king side rook.
