Hi everybody, election is nearing and all adult Indian citizens are prepared to cast their vote. Among them, many youngsters will be voting for the first time, Many political parties will come up with lucrative false promises, which they will forget just after wining the election. So, this time we need to cast our vote after noting all the pros and cons. Let us discuss what are the points we should keep in mind to elect out leader.

Bidyut this is really a very nice topic which u have brought up. 2009 is yet again an important year for the citizens of India. Dear friend, there is so much to say about our political system and our political leaders. With the mushrooming of several political parties it is very tough to decide who will actually look after our causes and whom to vote. But after being betrayed every time, personally I believe that who ever wins, it really not a very big deal for us. We wanted young leaders but unfortunately , they never come in the limelight. Above all corruption is the biggest issue. Everyone in the political scenario is corrupted. can this be changed is a bigger question again indeed. Untill and unless we say no to bribery, piracy, black marketing, nothing can change. The rules and laws laid down by the government are violated by our leaders themselves in our country. Here I think it is the role of the citizens. There should be a mass awakening, an arising that will stop every black deed of the Political leaders. a conscious effort on our parts to find out those contestants who deo not have criminal records and also who will actually look after issues like bad roads, terrorism, poverty and all other uncountable issues that needs to resolved. we must use our Fundamental Right, freedom of Speech.

Honesty is absolutely necessary in a political leader. He or she will be elected so that they can better the present scenario of India, especially, in this age of recession, pink slips, turbulence India desperately needs leaders who would give their 100% for serving the nation. But as you rightly said Bidyut, once the elections are over, all promises are forgotten after all promises are made to be broken. As far as the political scenario is concerned no political party or leader is better than the other. At this juncture the country is in dire need of suitable alternatives. but its disappointing to note that we have none. While we are discussing about the political leaders, I have always wondered about this: Do you vote for a particular candidate or you go with the party and its ideology? As far as I am concerned both these are important criteria what s your opinion?

Political leaders should have an age limit like in any other profession. So, I think our leader should be below 60 years, who should be healthy and fit enough to solve all the issues in his or her constituency. The leader should have minimum level of education to have a good idea and knowledge about various related things for the development of an area. The leader should have vision and he should be focused on the development of his area as well as of the country. The person should have basic knowledge of laws and regulations of the country and should be honest enough to obey them. The leader must not have any criminal background as we see many leaders contesting just coming out of jail. A political leader should be able to connect with all age groups and all economical groups. He or she should not be biased towards any particular religion. The words of the political leader should match with his or her works. The person should have a leadership quality to take various initiatives and raise voice in the parliament for actual issues. We need a leader who keeps the promises made before election. If a person can have these qualities then he or she should come out claiming to lead the country.
