The Indian hockey team proved its mettle yet again by winning the Four-Nation Invitational Hockey Tournament at the Taman Daya Stadium. Don t u think its time people worry less about IPLs and take out time to appreciate such achievements?

Definitely. It is really a great tragedy that the Indian people always give less importance to all sports except Cricket. I would like to blame the Indian media for this, mostly. Because, it is the role of media to inform people about the achievements of Indian sportspersons in different fields. The Indian media is clearly not doing that and highlighting cricket excessively. I think, the Indian Hockey team s win in the Four-Nation Invitational Hockey Tournament should have been highlighted more than Indian Cricket team s defeat against New Zealand in one of the ODI matches was highlighted. It is also time to shift the focus of Indian media a bit from Cricket to other sports, so that the other sports in India also get their due recognition and the mass get to know the extraordinary achievements that Indian sportspersons are getting in the international level, in recent times.

Yes, you are right. The tennis players in India also need some appreciation apart from the cricketers. But, the audience usually get interested to that game, which is promoted at high level. In India, cricket has got most of the attention. And, other games like tennis can be popularised only when the government takes further step to appreciate these players.
