hi.. u can try this home remedy for migraine. It really works Wet a towel liberally, then squeeze, not wring, some of the water out. Fold until the towel can easily be placed in the freezer. Leave in for about five minutes or until the towel begins to stiffen up. Unfold the towel and refold, trying to place the frozen section towards the middle and the wet sections toward the outside. When the towel is reasonably frozen, place around the head and eyes.
Some natural ways to get rid of Migraine pain - Have a bath or shower. - Lie down to rest in a dark room. - Avoid bright or flashing light. - Put something cold on the back of your neck, such as a cold, wet cloth or alternate hot and cold cloths where the pain is. - Put a cold compress on your forehead and your feet in a container of warm water. - Have a drink of water or natural juice, especially tomato juice. - Have some food, or a nutritious drink, if you haven t eaten for a while. - Massage your own face, head, neck and shoulders, or get someone else to do those and your back. Relax your muscles. - Press on two pressure points at the back of the neck. These points are about two inches apart, just below the base of the skull. Press for a minute or two. This releases endorphins that help against pain. - Massage or press on the fleshy area between thumb and forefinger. - Gently lean the head to left or right to stretch the neck muscles. Massage and relax any tense muscles. - Avoid sources of stress. Cancel activities so there s less to worry about. - Avoid exercise during a headache if it makes throbbing pain in the head and neck worse. On the other hand, generally exercise improves health, and it may help you relax during a headache. - Take some niacin a form of vitamin B3 . Taking enough niacin to cause a flush blood rushing to the skin can provide relief from headache pain, but this much niacin can also have side effects flush, nausea, heartburn, liver damage, etc. Niacinamide doesn t have such bad side effects, but isn t as much use against migraines, either. Smaller, safer amounts of niacin are also helpful. Niacin can trigger a migraine, though. - Take some vitamin C, vitamin B6, choline, tryptophan and niacin and/or magnesium.

You can have all sorts of proteins, but no nuts. Also, no coffee, wine, aged cheese, light on the citrus, etc . Apple and cranberry juices are fine, as are carrots, meats, most veges and fruits no bananas or dates .

consider avoiding citrus fruits, figs, raisins, avocados, red plums, papayas, and bananas, plus skip all cheeses, chocolate, bread made with sourdough, excess caffeine or red wine an foods containing mono-sodium glutamate. apart from this to control stress, do deep breathing, learn yoga. Some medications help keep migraine from occurring others short-circuit the pain. Make sure you go through a process of elimination of all elements affecting your life-style and investigate your biological needs to filter out those things that work and those that don t when it comes to dealing with Migraine pain.

Hi friends...fruit therapy is no doubt a good method. However, Im providing some more home remedies for treating Migraine..Many people make the mistake of buying expensive over-the-counter drugs in order to cure migraine. Not only are some of these drugs harmful there is no need to waste your money on costly medicines because there are cheap natural home remedies available that can cure migraine even more effectively than western medicines. I will tell you about three natural home remedies that you can use to cure migraine fast. Ice-Wrap Towel: One of the best natural remedies is ice-warp. You can of course buy ice-wraps at your local drugstore but you can also create it at your home if you like. To create an ice-wrap, just take out a towel, wet it thoroughly in water then wring the water out of it and fold it in such a way that you can place it in your freezer. Keep it in your freezer for about five minutes, or until the towel begins to stiffen. Once the towel stiffens, unfold and refold it by placing the frozen parts in the middle and the wet parts on the outside. Once the whole towel has frozen, place it around your forehead and eyes. This will help you cure migraine fast. Salt: Do you know that salt can cure migraine? If you want to cure migraine fast, just get a packet of salty corn chips for yourself. You can also eat fried foods that are rich in salt. It is not often that we are encouraged to eat salt. However, many people claim that salt helps them to cure migraine. Messaging: Yet another natural and easy way to cure migraine is to message your scalp. Have someone message your scalp for about ten minutes. Make sure they message your scalp and not your temples. This messaging should help cure your migraine. Prevention is better than cure. While there are several cures of migraine, it is best for you to prevent migraine attacks than wait for migraine to appear and then look out for treatments. You can easily control migraine by changing your lifestyle a little. For example, if you suspect that a particular food is triggering migraine attacks, you can easily discontinue the consumption of that food. You should also get enough sleep. For some people, migraine attacks are however caused by loud noises, stress or tension. In any case, if you can find out the root cause of your migraine attack, you can easily cure it. And of course, there are ways to find it

The best treatment for migraine is to prevent it. A lowered energy level, however, is the chief factor which contributes towards migraine. Any successful treatment for this ailment should, therefore, aim at a complete toning up and revitalization of the whole organism. To achieve this, it will be essential to under-take a thorough cleansing of the system and adopt vitality-building measures. To begin with, the patient should resort to fasting on orange juice and water for two or three days. The procedure is to take the juice of an orange in a glass of warm water every two hours from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. alternatively juices of vegetables such as carrot, cucumber and celery may be taken. A warm water enema may be taken each day while fasting to cleanse the bowels. After the short juice fast, the patient may adopt an all-fruit diet for about five days, taking three meals a day of fresh juicy fruits such as apples, pears, grapes, grapefruits, oranges, pineapples, peaches and melons. NO other food stuff should be taken during this period otherwise the value of the whole treatment will be lost. After the all-fruit diet, the sufferer should follow a well-balanced diet of three basic food groups, namely seeds, nuts and grains, vegetables and fruits. This diet should be supplemented with milk, yogurt, butter-milk, vegetable oils and honey. Further short fasts or periods on the all-fruit diet may be necessary at intervals of a month or two, according to the needs of the case. If constipation is habitual, all steps should be taken towards its eradication. Reishi mushroom is said to help against migraines. Many books agree that chocolate is the most likely food to cause migraines. Other foods which can cause migraines include avocados, pineapples, beans, peas, lentils, MSG, pork, shrimp, pickled herring, alcohol, caffeine, cheese, nitrites as preservatives in hot dogs and other processed meats, and coconut. One person reports that chamomile or valerian herbal tea can cause headaches. The caffeine in chocolate is not the main reason chocolate causes migraines. There s a group of substances called amines, common in food, which are the main food trigger of migraines. There are different amines in different foods. The one in chocolate is the worst. Foods such as cheese, alcohol, MSG monosodium glutamate - a food additive , yeast, wheat, nuts, avocados, beans, bananas, oranges and other citrus fruits , pork, vinegar and pickled foods , dairy products, caffeine, chocolate, onions and others can cause migraines. Foods that cause migraine headaches are called migraine triggers. People who experience migraine headaches because of food allergies can reduce or eliminate their pain by eliminating the foods that cause the headaches.

I believe that whatever suggestion or recommendation given by members in this thread are temporary remedies for the relief of Migrane. What I want to know, is there a permanent cure for this kind of headache???
Put simply, migraine involves excess contraction or dilation of the blood vessels in the brain. There are at least three major theories regarding the physiological mechanisms involved and there are many different types of migraine the major ones being: migraine with aura and migraine without aura - and several sub-types within each classification. To treat migraine, identify the trigger and eliminate it - which is often easier said than done. There is little doubt that food intolerance is a major cause of migraine and many studies have demonstrated that detecting and removing the offending food s can improve or even eliminate symptoms in the majority of sufferers. Foods containing phyto-oestrogens like citrus fruits, apples, cherries can have a hormone-balancing effect.
