Yes, You are right. Gambhir has showed remarkable persistence as the country returns from the brink of disaster to save the second Test and maintain their 1-0 lead in the three-match series against New Zealand. Coming out from the disgrace of a follow on and facing the difficult task of saving the match, Gautam Gambhir 137 showed tremendous application to stay put in the crease for nearly 11 hours. He has definitely shown a path to the young brigade. Moreover, he made crucial partnerships with Rahul Dravid 62 , Sachin Tendulkar 64 and VVS Laxman 124 not out in the process. So, his effort should be praised and followed.

I agree with both Gaurav and Rituporna. But, I want to mention another thing here. I think it is not only that the new generation players like Gambhir are playing crucial parts in giving the team stability, but it is also the old warriors like VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar who are performing consistently for the country. I think this is the best combination for Indian cricket team in the last few years, as there is a perfect blend of senior and junior players in the present team. If India can keep this kind of balance in the team for another 2-3 years, it will definitely become the leading team in all forms of cricket in the world and will also remain there for long. Sachin, Rahul or Laxman may not be playing after 3 years, but I think the players like Gambhir, Sehwag or Yuvraj will play the roles that they are playing now at that time.
