Can you enumerate on the gradual overlapping of the historical religious communities and the present day instances, solely based on social class?

Yes, you have hit on a very right question. I do think that Indian communities have overlapped with a conscious bias, shifting their focus from unity in class to disunity in mass. The historical communities in India did function with a common aim of education in Vedic Period , religious discourses also during the Vedic Age and Medieval Period , which later did come down to the Indian Independence era, with a brilliant aim to establish communities for one sole aim of freeing the Motherland. However, with time the respected domain of communities started to become much more shallow in approach and orientation, with every social class fighting tooth and nail against each other to establish their supremacy in specific fields. As such, the present-day communities in India dont much look towards betterment of the Indian civilisation, but establishing a rather biased form of staying within the circle.
