He has never been an inconsistent performer, rather has rescued the team in the crisis situations, when India badly needed it. Be it an 167 under pressure against Australia in Sydney 2000 or a 281 in Kolkata against the same opposition,Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman or VVS Laxman averages over 45 in test cricket. He has scored over 6,700 plus runs, yet has not been in limelight in true sense of terms. His last knock of 61 has merely added some more runs to India s 1st innings total. Thus, can we term VVS Laxman is an Unsung Hero of Indian Cricket?

Yes, VVS Laxman can definitely be termed as the unsung hero of Indian cricket. Its true that the valuable innings that he has played so far for India cannot be forgotten at all and he should have been publicised much more than he is being publicised in reality. However, this has not lessen the credit of Laxman by any means and he is still the same warrior who would do anything for the well being of his team. I would also like to take Rahul Dravid s name along with Laxman, as the Unsung Hero of Indian cricket. This is a common practice in Indian media that Dravid and Laxman are not highlighted at all even if they do something historic. This is really unfortunate for Indian cricket.
