Moonstones are quite popular in India nowadays. With their origin in Sri Lanka these are found abundantly in Indian subcontinent too. But I am curious to know why these enchanting stones had been named Moonstones and considered sacred in India?

Moonstone is considered a good luck stone. It is also believed to give lovers the ability to foretell the future. Legend suggests that moonstone was supposed to awaken tender passions if placed beneath the tongues of lovers at full moon. In addition, it was recommended that holding a moonstone in the mouth would refresh one s memory. This stone has always been revered because of its lunar attraction. It was believed that the shiller in the stone would follow the cycles of the moon. In addition, it has always been considered a feminine, or Goddess stone. Since ages moonstone is believed to be the solidified rays of the moon, and the glimmering light within was the light of the good spirit that lived in the stone. In the middle ages, people thought if one could look into a moonstone, fall into a deep sleep that would tell one of the future. The Indians point out that when there is a moon there is no rain and so the name, moonstone, means no tears. According to legend, a moonstone placed in the mouth while the moon is full gives lovers the power to read their futures together.

The moonstone is good stone for both male and females. It helps males connect to their creative side and emotional side which they tend to stuff. This stone helps one with vision. That is why woman carrying it during their moon time are more powerful at that time for they are given visions that are stronger than if they did not carry it. When you carry it at other times this stone will allow you to see the variety of possibilities in any situation. It does not matter what color this stone is it will do the above things. When color is added it assists you with other aspect. pink tones/birthing-emotions green tones/growth-physical black tones/intellectual white tones/spiritual blue tones carry all of the above in one stone. As far as increasing tension or cramping during moontime I felt that it did not do this but helped to lessen them, I would take a bath with several in the tub with me along with sea salt and it was wonderful. Moonstone is a wonderful stone for women. Helps to balance the menstrual hormones. Particularly good for women going through menopause. It gives one greater flexibility and flow with life. It also helps to soothe stress and anxiety. Enhances intuitive sensitivity. It also helps one to feel less overwhelmed by personal feelings. It allows one to except new beginnings. Also enhances perception and this allows one to make decisions which further your developments. Brings confidence and composure. Many use this as a stone of protection during travels. Brings tenderness to the surface. A stone of rejuvenation. Because it has the colors of the rainbow, it brings with it all the traits of the colors as well including the healing.
