Shah Rukh Khan, owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, has hit back at Sunil Gavaskar over his comments about franchise coach John Buchanan, and asked Gavaskar to stay away from issues concerning his IPL team. What do you people say? Is SRK right on saying that?

I think both Gavaskar and Shah Rukh Khan are right on their respective stands. Gavaskar did it right to criticise Buchanan s new cricketing theory, as he has the right to do so. However, he should not have commented on Buchanan and his supporting team, most of whose are from Queensland. I think it totally depends on the team owner, Shah Rukh Khan to decide whom he would like to keep with the team and whom not. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan should also be a bit more cautious about making his comments on such a respectable cricketing legend. He should not have said that one should buy a team and run it in his own way, if he has any problem with the multiple-captain theory Kolkata Knight Riders is following. Yes, its correct that Shah Rukh Khan is the owner of KKR and he has all right to run his team in his own way, but one should also take into consideration the comments of legendary cricketers. Anyway, the issue has not gone that far yet and I hope both Sunil Gavaskar and Shah Rukh Khan will act maturely to avoid creating another controversy in Indian cricket.

SRK owns one of the IPL teams: Kolkata Knight Riders. The decison that he and his team s cricket coach has taken that is there will be more than one captain, is totally a new concept which has never happened before in the history of world cricket. It is in this reference that Sunil Gavaskar, one of the stalwarts of Indian cricket, has expressed his concern over multiple captaincy. He thinks that this may not work as cricket has never seen more than one captain before. However, according to Shahrukh Khan, they are trying something new for the first time and instead of commenting, people should rather support this experimentation, which if successful can be followed later by the other teams of the world. Views of SRK to some extent can be supported since IPL tournament is the ideal platform where by something new can always be tried out. Poeple will enjoy this games and here experimentation can be done. But, as far as the media is concerned, they are simply making a story out of nothing. There is no need to get hyper on what Gavaskar has said and what SRK has condemned.

I think SRK could have reacted in a more sober way. He has been a little rude on his part while saying that if Gavaskar wants to provide his input, he should buy his own team. This one sounds like as if he is boasting of his money. May be his intention was not to hurt anyone but it could have been presented in a better way. As a senior cricketer, if Gavaskar points out any idea then he should take it politely and if he does not like that he can reject it also very politely. There was no need to announce all these in media. In his part, otherwise SRK is right that he is free to do whatever he likes to do with his team.
