Parineeta, its unfortunate to say that the state of Traditional Sports in India is heartrending at the moment. Most of the traditional sports are near extinction in India and the others like Kabaddi and Kho Kho are living on the verge of extinction. Though, Kabaddi and Kho Kho are recognised as official sports in various regional and international championships, they are not being played and practised in all over India. I think the main reason is the financial insecurity of the traditional sportspersons in India. Even in the time when the Indian Cricketers are being showered with lots of money and other rewards, its really unfortunate that many sportspersons in India have to think about alternative profession for earning their livelyhoods. If you want to know about the history of traditional sports in India, I think this link may help you. http://www.indianetzone.com/39/history_traditional_sports_india.htm
