Nowadays, we see a lot of Guruji with all kinds of title like Satguru Jagatguru Swamiji etc.etc. Could anyone advise how these titles are accorded. Is there an official body or peedam in India which vets and confers these titles on Hindu holy men.

Swami Sw. Sanskrit: स ् व ा म ी , Svā mi, IPA: sʋ ː mi is primarily a Hindu honorific title, for either males or females. It is derived from Sanskrit and means He who knows and is master of himself , owner of oneself , or free from the senses . It is a title added to one s name to emphasize learning and mastery of Yoga, devotion to the gods, and devotion to the swami s spiritual master a guru or another swami . The satguru is a title given specifically only to an enlightened rishi. The satguru is a title given specifically only to an enlightened rishi/sant whose life s purpose is to guide initiated shishya along the spiritual path, the summation of which is the realization of the Self through realization of the God. There is no such official body to confer these titles i guess

Apart from being just the Honorary totles, Sadguru in Sikhism Satguru is one of the many names for God. Satguru is the one who initiate the Initiation rite. Initiation rites are formalized, ceremonial rite of passage as an individual moves from stage to stage within a social career or formally acquires such status.

Maybe, because there is no authority or body to regulate these titles, a lot of fake holy men are using them to cheat the public. I m just wondering what can be done to expose this kind of fake holymen with assumed titles....
