For the information of all members of the Forum, the FIRST Indian to win an American Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences Academy Award was Ms BHANU ATHAIYA for the category of BEST COSTUME DESIGN for the movie GANDHI in 1982. She won the award together with Mr. John Mollo of England.
