It seems that recession has effected Indian Film Industry too as since last few weeks no new film release is seen and also no promos. Do you feel the same that it is due to the effect of recession or it is the effect of Big Budget films flop?

well i think it is for the recession. Global recession has started showing its signs in the Indian film industry. Be it in viewer ship or in net profit Recession has affected. The serious melting-down going on everywhere have also been forced to reduce their prices. this has also affected the film industry

I guess that economic mrltdown has indeed affected the Indian cinema sector. I was reading a journal which says that The number of films produced had shown a steady increase, up from 132 in 2007 to 162 in 2008, due to corporate companies entering into production. But of late money flow into the production market is decreasing day by day. The recession has affected more the Kollywood sector

hi Neeraj.. i also like to add here that the Indian film sector is complex. Actually what i feel that the Indian film sector is not directly affected by recession but by those bigwig corporate giants. Actually maximum films are funded by the corporate houses who again generate their funding from the stock market.. So whenever the stock market is affected the indirect pressure comes on Indian film sector.. and this time its a global meltdown.. so naturally the sector has also being affected

Hello Mr. Modi.. you have pointed it right that the bigwig corporate giants is affected by the recession hence the Bollywood is affected indirectly...Due to this a number of Project cancellations, mass lay-offs and delayed releases are haunting the world s biggest cinema factory... to add on it .. the distributors have been severely hit by the recession... and you know what the bubble was bound to burst, better it happened sooner rather than later... Thats how i also feel like Madhur Bhandarkar
