Turmeric is currently used in the formulation of some sunscreens. Turmeric paste is used by some Indian women on the face and body to keep them free of superfluous hair. Also, turmeric paste is applied to bride and groom before marriage in some places of India, where it is believed turmeric gives glow to skin and keeps some harmful bacteria away from the body. In the South, the thread used for Mangalasutra is also lined with tumeric powder paste. Families who can t afford to buy the gold Mangalasutra, use a piece of Tumeric tied to the Mangalsutra Thread.
