Hi roop.. Village tourism is quite a new concept.. Villages are abundant in refreshing greenery, Villages with their openness, fresh natural airs, pastoral beauty, and touching and winsome rustic simplicity woo the mind whilst rejuvenating a tired traveler. This very conceot of the beauty of vilages rejuvenating the traveller is the basic crux of village tourism. Far away from the hustle and bustle of congested cities life, and polluted air & ambience, villages offer fresh comforting breezes, lavish openness, and pleasant & soothing solitude. Thus, the village tourism is an expedient means of spending your holidays peacefully, in solitude, or in interacting with candid villagers.

village tourism in India still remains a strong trend for any tourist visiting India. Many culture and heritage lovers still prefer visiting villages instead of multi faced cities of India. And that too village tourism in India is not new. For years the growth seen in the number of tourist visits to Indian villages has been immense. In fact it had doubled over the last decade or so.

Village tourism or Rural tourism is a brilliant concept where villages are adopted under UNDP and trained and developed to sustain themselves through tourism. There are quite a few villages which have been groomed to run rural resorts or home stays to earn for themselves. THe best feature is the simplicity with which it is being run by the people. I have been to couple of such places both brilliant - Sham-e-sarhad in Rann of Kuchch and Amrahee resort in Pranpur. Let me know if you need to more details, I can share my travel notes.
