The placebo effect is a psychological response to treatment. It is basically an inactive substance or procedure used as a control in an experiment. The placebo effect is the measurable, observable, or felt improvement in health not attributable to an actual treatment. in short we can say A placebo is a treatment with no active element.

I believe that this more of a psychology rather than anything else. When someone takes something believing it as a medicine, it is the confidence that the person places on the thing that he takes that cures him of his ailment.
