Hello, I have read that triphala can be used as a eye wash and it is quite beneficial for eyes. I was wondering if this being referred to for a regular triphala churna that we get in market e.g. from Himalaya/Nature s way etc. As i understand we put churna overnight in water and then wash eyes in morning with it? For washing put it in a small cup and put it over eyes for few seconds with eyes open . Has anyone tried it and has some experiences to share? Thanks, BK
Triphala is a wonder herb that is comprehensively used by ayurvedic physicians to treat various disorders. Though it is widely used as a laxative, but there are certain secrets about triphala that are still unknown to this world. Triphala, to the contrary to a belief is a combination of three herbs, rather more precisely, three fruits tri means threee and phala means fruit . Triphala is composed of three most valuable herbs, Amalaki, Haritaki and Bhibitaki. These are very widely used in treating various diseases. All these are mixed in equal propotion by weight to obtain a benediction of God known as Triphala. Triphala has beneficial effects in the treatment of eye infections like conjunctivitis and visual problems like cataract and glaucoma. Triphala is also prescribed to treat eye problems such as fatigue, redness and soreness of the eyes and VDT Computer eyes. It is used as eyewash in these cases. Triphala should generally be used internally as well, when using topically. The eyes for the people suffering from Cataract should be washed with triphala water. To make triphala water, add 1 table spoon of triphala powder in 1 glass of water and let it stay overnight. Filter it in the morning and use it to wash your eyes.

Thanks for a detailed reply. Let me try it out. Yesterday i saw one program from Swami RamdevJi. He told one more thing. Mix juice of Adrak, Lemon and White onion and put it as eye drop. Sounds painful but he says it works wonders. Does anyone have any experiences to share?
