Homoepathy helps to rebalance the body s immune mechanisms. Therefore, it does not wait for a pathological report to commence treatment. A mutation in the virus too is no cause of concern as when the body is in equilibrium it can take care of itself. I have found great benefit with the Biochemic group of medicines like Ferrum phos, Kali mur and calcarea Phos all in the 6th or 30th decimal potency, when given cyclically to help to abort an acute inflamation, and keep the body in an immunologically sound state. I cases of flu which have been suspected cases of H1N1, I found that most of the time I had to start with Aconite 200 one dose, or Bryonia or Belladonna. But most cases needed an intercurrent dose of Sulphur 30, on the 3 rd day after which the fever subsided with no complications. Biochemic medicines can be given on a mass scale, with no ill effects.

Yes doctor, it is true that homeopathic medicines help maintain the body s immune mechanism in a balanced state. As far as H1N1, the concern is that since it is a mutation of the flu virus, there is no natural immunity developed in people as of yet.. so the probability of number of people affected with it would be much higher than what would occur otherwise... hence the panic. However, treatment-wise, homeopathic approach is always individualistic and the remedy for any infection in that case would differ from person to person as per the presentation of the case. Homeopathic medicines are not prescribed with an intention to act against the virus or bacteria or disease causing organism. According to homeopathic principles, disease is an outward manifestation of some internal problem and it is this internal problem or imbalance that needs to be corrected in order to restore the body s immune system to normal. The same principle acts in case of H1N1 and the medicine is selected on the basis of presenting symptoms of the patient giving due consideration to the probable cause, etc. Results are instant and excellent provided the correct indicated remedy is chosen and prescribed in the correct potency and frequency. To add to it, there is no possibility or fear for development of side effects or resistance as it happens with the conventional allopathic medicines.
