By the expression Triveni Sangam, as far as the Hindu mythology is concerned, the sacred place is marked as the meeting point of The Ganga, The Yamuna and The Saraswati. It is in Allahabad. The place is also known as Prayag, where the biggest assembly called Kumbh Mela is observed at an interval of 12 years. It is believed that Lord Bramha performed the sacred sacrificial rite here. References of Prayag can be had in different mythological anecdotes or annals, in the Ramayana. The story goes, king Harsavardhan, after having bathed in the Triveni Sangam, gave away all his pelf. The king of Ikhsaku dynasty after taking the holy dip took to Ilbas or the divine attire. The term Ilbas was coined as Allahabad during the regime of Akbar. The meeting places of three rivers are widely flouted in this Sub-Continent. But all of them are not the Triveni Sangam from the sacred point of view.
