Cycling is a popular sport in foreign lands and bicycle racing is recognized as an Olympic sport. However in the cities of India, it is not that popular. Here it is mainly accepted as a common recreational sport. Very few people are interested in this sport. According to you, what are the reasons behind this?

I think lack of proper space is one of the main reasons.

Many cities restrict cycling to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicular traffic. As a result, it`s difficult to find any space for cycling. I think this is another reason.

Cycling is a very good exercise. It improves joint mobility, increases cardiovascular fitness and burns calories. And this vehicle does not pollute the environment. So in my opinion, there should be a particular area in every urban city where one can cycle freely.

Cycling on the roads of a city is not safe. The roads are very accident prone because of the rash driving of cars and buses. Pedestrians and cycle riders are more affected in the road accidents.
