Hi guys, Chettinad in Tamil Nadu, India is well known for its handloom fabrics. The distinguishing features of the Chettinad handlooms are its seemingly heavy look and the striking colors that are achieved through a deft combination of stripes checks and colour contrasts. The modern Chettinadu cotton handlooms still maintain rudiments of the original version but have been suitably modified to meet current day needs of the market. With the base cotton fabric material, the hallmarks of thickness and wide borders, trendy colorful designs and embroidery create the elegant Chettinad magic.

Thanks for the info, Ashmitha and do you know that the name of this saree is derived from the town itself? This saree is really gorgeous. Starting from the boarder to colour combination, everything is very traditional.
