Oonch Neech is a childhood game which is very popular amongst the rural and urban street children. This game is known by different names in different regions. Can anybody guess the regional names of this game?

Oonch Neech is called `Kumir Danga` in Bengali. I came to know about its name because my cousins from Delhi came to visit our place and told me that they play a similar kind of game like kumir danga but with a different name.

Oh my god... I didn`t know about this. Kumir Danga and Oonch Neech are same. This was my favourite game when I was a kid. I played kumir danga every evening with my friends. My friends used to get bored with this game everyday but not me. Thanks guys for sharing this information.

The Oonch Neech game is a popular group game played by young children aged 3 - 8 year olds in uneven open spaces. `Oonch` means a surface which is comparatively higher and `Neech` means a lower surface. The game provides a platform for social interaction among children of the same age group, encourages them to work in teams and they also learn to be more alert and confident.

There was a time when evening for children meant going out to play outside. It`s not that they don`t do it anymore, but a lot of them in cities are spending time indoors glued to the computer from an early age. Video games, games on mobile phones and other types of electronic games are eating away valuable time of the children. A lot of traditional games are played less and less nowadays.
