Ramman is the unique religious festival celebrated in the form of ritual theatre of the Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand. But today it stands the risk of extinction. Can anyone tell me more on Ramman and why this UNESCO-recognised tradition is threatened today?

The Ramman is made up of complex rituals; recitation of a regional version of Ramayana and various legends along with performance of folk songs and dance by select villagers wearing special masks.
