In an age of pink slips and mounting recession, the Indian youth is once again looking in public sectors for jobs. Once shunned for its non glam image and boredom, the youngsters today are choosing security of the government jobs over money in corporate sectors. Do you think this trend is going to stay? Or once the recession is over and the situation bounces back, the scenario will be the same once again with more and more young people preferring the private sector jobs than be addressed as babus ?

the present Job recession has also hit the aspiration level of the Indian youths. i think the myth of IT , the glamour of private jobs are all history now. Indian youiths are preferring more and more secure and stable option of the Government job. the global financial meltdown and the serious job cut in the private sectors are making youth nervous, jittery about the present private office scenario.

it is the sense of insecurity in the private sector because of this global economic meltdown the youths of India are turning towards Government Jobs. It is just not he job but the recession bug has also hit the aspiration level of the Indian youths. What they want now is an assured and stable income from a government job. The dream that once the IR and other private sectors have weaved for the youth is now shattered. What left is now the bitter after taste of serious pink slips. A stable Government Job seems to be much more attractive to them.

there is certainly a deep recession as far as jobs for the highly educated are concerned. Ironically, this may be the first time in India s history when it is more difficult for the professional graduates to find employment or appropriate employment, compared to the less educated millions. Those who are currently struggling to find a decent job include engineers, management graduates, IT sector-trained professionals, fashion designers, merchandisers and other retail sector professionals, pilots and other aviation industry staff, and other professionals. The problem is even more acute for those in the middle and senior management functions who have lost their jobs in the last few months. All i think are not going for the government Jobs.. some are also leaning on the anti depressant pills to sail forward

U know what , its just not the sharp decline in the aspiration level of the Indian youths what the present recession has contributed but also numbers suffering from stress related problems have also shot up. Across India s major cities, once successful professionals are seeking medical help after either losing jobs or fearing possible job losses. the stress of the people who are fearing to loose their jobs are even more than those who have already lost jobs.

Layoffs seems to be the order of the day, but the job scenario in India is not so bad. The latest global manpower survey shows India will create more jobs in the next three months, more than other countries. Out of the 3,600 employers surveyed in India, a whopping 63 per cent said there will be no change in the hiring intent in the first quarter of 2009, 22 per cent rather see an increase in the hiring and just 4 per cent predict a decrease. Mining, construction and services sector will see more job opportunities. Meanwhile, wholesale and retail will be the worst hit.
