hello i would like to tell you about the Folk theatre of Kerala. The ritualistic Bhuta theatre of Kerala is known as Teyyam or Teyyattam. The Teyyams are the representations of folk and tribal deities worshiped in various forms. Most Teyyam performances are public and are performed at temple festivals to honour the spirits as well as for the general well being of all present

Hello roopanjana.. What i feel Kerala has a diverse culture which ensures Kerala s indulgence in almost all art forms. Entertainment in Kerala therefore would include theatre traditional and contemporary, cinema, music, dance and even the water sports. In the domain of Cinema, Kerala comes under south Indian movie making in India. Cinema is a popular source of entertainment in Kerala. Kerala actively participates in making some quality films both commercial and parallel as well. AMMA, Association of Malayalam Movies Actors protects and looks after the ambition of the Kerala film industry.

Sangitnataka is a popular theatre form in Kerala. Sangitanataka is a specific genre of Malayalam theatre. The first Sangitanataka can be mentioned as T. C. Achyuta Menon s Sangita Naishadham i.e. Musical on Naishadha in 1892. This was depicted the myth of Nala and Damayanti. It was followed by K. C. Kesava PilLal s Sadarama in 1903. This dealt with the story of a Tamil drama bearing the same name. Both proved extremely successful, resulting in shows at a large number of places. Their popularity prompted other poets and artists to write and produce similar plays. Thus the first theatre movement started in Kerala led by professional troupes organized on commercial lines.
