Cartoon is a lovable form of art. I would like to know about some eminent cartoonists of India and all about their works...Is there any institute or gallery in the nation dedicated to the Indian cartoonists?

Hello Roop, Nice post cartoon in india has a copious past. since ages cartoon art has been a part of traditional folk-life in India. However now with technique cartoon has gained prominence as an art form. The Indian cartoonists can be broadly classified into four broad categories. Cartoonist in animation, cartoonist of comic strips, political cartoonist and cartoonists of comic books. Vijay N. Seth, is one of the prominent Indian cartoonists. He started his career as a political cartoonist. However, he soon diversified into thematic cartoons on science, business, deforestation, illiteracy etc. He is now the president of the Indian chapter of the Federation of European Cartoonists Organisation.

thanks Abhi for sharing this info.. i would like to talk here about S. D. Phadnis, an eminent Indian cartoonist. It started as a hobby for him. However, within no time it turned in to a career for him. The main attraction of his cartoons is they are caption less. This within no time set a new trend in Cover Designing in magazines. You will be amazed to see how subtly yet boldly humour is presented in a stylistic manner in his cartoons. I just respect this great cartoonist
hello all.. i believe that in the Indian context cartooning gained popularity during the British era. But over the years, came into its own in a stylized and independent version that is hugely popular. can anyone tell about the development of this cartooning in India
