You are right Abhi Aromatherapy is one of the oldest form of treatment in India. Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of aromatic substances. It originated in India as a response to the naturopathic healing which was practiced in the then India. Therapeutic use covers both mind and body, whereas aromatic substances tend to be the essential oils. As a treatment, it is usually combined with body-contact therapy in the form of massage. Aromatherapy massage is one of the most relaxing types of massage and is best done with subdued lighting and gentle background music. The nature of aromatherapy is as a holistic treatment, restoring balance to mind and body as well as its specific use in treating a wide range of symptoms.

Hi Abhi.....it seems your querry is deviated to an extent. Well....The word Aromatherapy comes from two words: Aroma , meaning fragrance, and Therapy , meaning treatment. It is a healing art based in nature, and it effects the whole person-mind, body, and spirit. As far back as 18,000 B.C., flowers, plants, and their essences had been used for healing, relaxation and energizing. Aromatherapy was used by the most ancient civilizations: Egypt, China, and India, and is reputed to be at least 6000 years old. Traditional Indian medicine known as ayurveda has been practiced for more than 3000 years. One of its main aspects incorporates aromatic massage. Thus the age of aromatherapy can be said to be much older than ayurveda.
