The Battle of Plassey in fact, was not a war in the strict sense of the term. When the English had only three thousand soldiers and only eight cannons, their adversery the Nawab, Siraj-ud-Daula had 15 thousand cavalry, 35 thousands infantry and 40 cannons. But most of the Nawab s army were kept under the commands of the traitors and conspirators who remained idle during the war. It lasted for a few hours only wherein the Nawab had 15 hundred casualties while only 22 of the British soldiers died. The Battle was fought and ended on 23 June, 1757. It was a Thursday.
